"Ballad of a Comeback Kid"
I recently found out that I was accepted on my school's newspaper staff as a writer, woo! More to help with my writing...
I've been trying to cut down on the computer usage, but I'm finding it hard for some reason. I (as bad as this sounds) can't seem to keep myself occupied doing other things. I try drawing and writing as much as I can, but that only lasts for 30+ minutes each. So I try to get away from the computer, and I eventually find myself merely sitting somewhere else in my room, which accomplishes nothing, maybe even less than being at the computer. Hmm...
I have this creative writing class, that I was really looking forward to, and I was greatly dismayed with the turn out of it. It could be because I set very high expectations for the class, but it seems as though the class consists mainly of people who couldn't care less about it, and are only taking the class because it is an "easy A," as they say. I try hard to focus and absorb what the teacher is saying, but it's so hard with these kids providing constent distractions for other students as well as the teacher. Whenever we are asked to discuss our writings, most kids either offer their writitngs that are contructed in a way meant to most please the teacher, or they give some non-sensical mumbo-jumbo. Now, by no means am I trying to sound pretentious or elitist in any way. Perhaps my writings sound to them, as theirs do to me. But I personally know mine are genuine, regardless of what they think...so I guess that's all that really matters. I'm trying to ignore them for the most part anyway.
Oh, the title of this entry is a song name from a band called The New Pornographers.

never fear! blogs are excellent for writing, i think. in fact, i attribute the finding of my "style" to my blog rather than to my english class. but, i understand the disappointment of the creative writing class. may the force be with you...and i look forward to more entries!
